The first time I saw a 4 in 1 Trike was in the Supermarket. A young Mum was pushing her toddler around the store and the child seemed really happy just pedalling along with Mum in total control and relaxed. They certainly are a fun alternative to a buggy!
The idea behind this type of 3 Wheeler Trike is that it can be adapted to fit 4 stages of your child’s development. Guided – 9 months+, Learning – 12 months+, Developing – 18 months+, Independent – 30 months+. The final stage being when the trike is independently powered and driven by the child and the footrests and telescopic handle are removed.
There are lots of designs on the market and some are sturdier and better quality than others. Typically the features are removable footrests, telescopic parent push handle, lockable steering, safety belt, pedals on the front wheel and some even have rotating seats. Most 4 in 1 Trikes come with a sun shade so are perfect when we do get the occasional sunny day!
