Buying s scooter for a 2 year old can be a bit of a daunting prospect. When I started looking for a birthday present for my granddaughter I was amazed at the range of designs, sizes and wheel configurations. Some have lights on the wheels others have seats while others have foot brakes.
The 4 wheel versions are obviously more stable and would suit the younger child. The 3 wheel version gives the child the stability while steering and allows for more advanced manoeuvring. The 2 wheel version is definitely for the older and more advanced children because the ability to balance is required. There is definitely not 1 scooter that fits all and some children are very confident and will become proficient very quickly and might get frustrated with a 4 wheel version.
My decision came down to getting a scooter which would still be useful when my granddaughter gets older. Some of the kid’s scooters can be adapted as the child gets older and more confident and their needs change. Some of the features you might look out for are lightweight, folding, a wide deck (the bit the stand on) which promotes balance and confidence, adjustable handlebar height and finally larger wheels for the younger child
I have included a few of the bestselling scooters I found below which hopefully will help you make a better buying decision. Oh and 1 last thing, don’t forget a Kids Scooter Helmet and some fun accessories like Scootaheadz, Scooter Lead and Wheel Whizzers!
